Hello Teri@tcs!

Thank you for posting this event. My name is Susan Williams and I am the co-founder of iPivot-now. We are thrilled to be hosting our 3rd event with Dr. Fishman May 18-21, at noon ET. It is a live event and is free to attend live via Zoom. Both my business partner (also a PT) and I (a holistic nutritionist) have been certified to teach Dr. Fishman, MD's, clinically studied program. In addition to Dr. Fishman, we will be talking about nutrients that matter for bone health, improving posture and how to avoid fractures.

Thank you again!
Susan

Hi @susanmariewilliams, thank you for your post. I am looking forward to this four day event. I've been doing Dr. Fishman's Yoga poses, first and second series, for about eight months. My only concern is the time the seminars start. I have to be up at 6:00 am Hawaii time. Auwe! as we say on the islands.

Time zones are a challenge indeed! My business partner lives on the east coast and I am on the coast of Oregon. We have had students in Australia, New Zealand, England and Scotland. We do our best to accommodate as many as possible. I really appreciate the tenacity and dedication that others show in supporting their bone health! There is an option to purchase the 4 days of recordings on our website. Please let me know if you would like more information on that option. Thank you! Susan

Hi @gigi4, I got this email from ipivot-now which has that information:

P.S. We're still getting a lot of questions from people wanting to attend the challenge but can't attend all sessions. Yes, to attend live is absolutely free, but for those with a schedule conflict there is an All-Access Recordings upgrade option available https://ipivot-now.com/challenge/bone-health/upgrade-vip/

If you click on https://ipivot-now.com/challenge/bone-health/upgrade-vip/ above, the link should take you there. Failing that, I think clicking on the original link in the first post should take you there.

Hi Susan, @susanmariewilliams, I don't know if you follow the Osteoporosis focused discussions here at Mayo Clinic Connect. Nutrients are of interest. There is a lot of discussion of strontium citrate (not ranelate) increasing bone density, fooling the dexa scan, etc. One member has posted that her spinal fractures have stopped since she started taking it. Also, taking calcium is controversial. What types are best? What about combatting osteoporosis when you've had to take prednisone or other steroid for an autoimmune disorder? Finally, is there any guidance about getting off a prescription drug for osteoporosis? Thank you, Teri

Hi Teri, thanks for sharing all of these important questions! I seek to educate, not dictate, what people's options are. Much of what I have learned is from Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD and presidential appointed member of the US Pharmacopeia. I have studied with her for many years and believe her to be a highly reliable source. I also regularly read research articles, work to determine their validity, and offer new information. I have seen the discussions on strontium (citrate v. ranelate). I have not seen much definitive research, but do understand the difference and the debate. Calcium is another hot topic indeed. With the answer most often being "it depends." Most importantly, to begin with it depends on how much natural calcium one is consuming. And then there is the discussion of whether or not one is getting the appropriate level of "partner nutrients" so that calcium is bioavailable.

I always suggest to people that they must gather facts around these important topics in order to have good discussions with their health care providers, as they are the only people who have enough information about the individual's specific condition and any underlying health concerns, to make specific recommendations. I think we all wish that there was just one answer.

I will be doing an hour long talk on nutrients that matter for bone health day one of the 4 day challenge. I look forward to you being there! -Susan

@tsc, thank you for posting about the 4 day free event about Bone Health that starts on May 18.

For members, while the 4-day Challenge is free, there is a charge for other offerings such as products, workshops, recordings and coachings.

@susanmariewilliams, I appreciate your joining the discussion to answer member questions about the 4-Day Challenge and to share your knowledge about bone health and osteoporosis. I would be remiss as a moderator if I did not post a link to Mayo Clinic Connect's community guidelines (https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/tab/community-guidelines/) In particular , I'll point guideline number 5 about "No commercial postings, advertisements or solicitations," which you have not done. Thank you.

All the best for a successful event!
