TAV after post surgery PSA test

My Urologist-Surgeon has ordered a PSA test to be completed 2 months after a robot assisted radical prostatectomy. I am currently 18 days post surgery. 60 years old and my PSA was 6.1 at the time of the surgery. Post pathology determined the cancer to be pT2 3+4 Gleason with negative margins, grade 2B. After the PSA test it should be followed up by TUV. Does anyone have any experience to what the TAV stands for and what it will determine? Thanks.

TUV might mean "trans-urethral vaporization". It's done to deal with enlarged prostates. Why it would be indicated after a radical prostatectomy with negative margins is a mystery to me. That deserves a question to your care team.

Sorry, my mistake, I meant to state TAV. My Urologist is out of the office for a short while and I was curious of the term. In relation to prostate cancer the only terms I have found are Tumor Associated Vasculature and Telomere Associated Variables. It is likely just some sort of imaging test if the post op PSA test still has detectable values.

Thank you, Collen. Post Op PSA test in 8 days. Hopefully, this will set the course for a full recovery.

Post operative (2 months) PSA test results were < 0.1 ng/mL. The monitoring will now switch to blood tests every 3 months and review with the Urologist. The TAV mystery was solved: Telephone Advice Visit. It is just healthcare terminology for discussing health issues by telephone. My wild imagination getting the best of me!
