Not knowing what to expect can be scary. You're wise to ask questions.
Here is some basic information about what you can expect after a stem cell transplant http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/stem-cell-transplant/basics/what-you-can-expect/prc-20013565

But I realize that you're looking for more practical information about how your life will be changed. What can't you do for a while? How does this affect your relationship? These are all questions for which there is no right answer and you'll keep asking them.

Have you been to the Cancer Education Center in Rochester? http://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/education-centers/cancer-education/minnesota It's a beautiful place with staff and volunteers to help you find support groups and reading material to help you. Sheryl @smness is Nurse educator and blog writer/moderator for Living with Cancer at Mayo Clinic. She can also help find resources with you.

Let's keep talking. What concerns you most today?

Hi @chrish2015, this is Sheryl. I'd love to help with your concerns. It's a lot to think about, but just know that both you and your boyfriend will be well support during his care and treatment. The transplant team will have a nurse coordinator that works with you during his transplant. Our team in the Cancer Education Center is also available every day to support you both along the way. We can work with you 1x1 or you can attend one of our free classes or sessions on nutrition, managing side effects, stress relief and mind/body strategies. I'd love to meet you. Send a note and let me know when you are coming so that we can arrange a time to meet each other. Hope to see you soon.

I have a ton of concerns mainly right now he is ignoring me every attempt to tell him I am worried I care and I want to be there but I get nothing from him at all so its hard to even connect with him about this to try to get somewhere with him on this cancer to make me feel better... Tony has told me little about what his blood work was a few weeks ago and I was crying when I got off the phone that night with him because his blood work wasn't good he said idk what to do to try to get talking with tony to get him to realize I care and want to be there for him..
