Want to discuss prolapse bladder or any kind of prolapse

Posted by Tanglefoot @tanglefoot, Aug 2, 2015

I am looking to discuss prolapse bladder or any kind of prolapse that other ladies have experienced as well. I would also like to comment on incontinence as well. There is a lot to talk about when it comes to prolapse bladder etc and it seems to be a silent epidemic among women. If there are others out there like me, lets talk about it and I have some solutions. I am surviving prolapse bladder without surgery and I have been living with it for over ten years. I wear a support garment that is light and easy weight and fits right under my existing underwear. Don't know what you are doing or wearing, but I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

No I did not have spine surgery. I was told the only surgery they could do because of my curved spine is to put a rod all the way down the spine. I am 64 years old and I just did not want to do that since I had little assurance that it would make things better. I have had little trouble getting off the opiods and in fact, I was the one who asked the doctor about getting off. He has been my pain doctor for years and knows me well. I just retired from 30 years of college teaching and while I have taken norco for a long time, cutting down to a lot less has been really easy. This is particularly true now that I am retired because I don't worry about how changes in medication will affect me. That is why I was able to try the newer medication which is not an addiction risk. As I mentioned, it is called Belbuca and is working great on my nerve pain. Seems like few people have tried it but it has worked miracles for me. It is very new though.
You should ask your doctor about it.

Hi everyone. I am so glad to have found this group as I'm very confused. I don't know whether I have a prolapse or not and my last OBGYN visit, she said everything was great. I didn't notice this until I got really constipated and I can feel a bulge between my vagina and rectum. Although I have hemorrhoids from childbirth I don't seem to have anything else back there unusual and nothing is coming out the vagina either. It's just this bulge like the rectum is taking a turn down before deciding to come out...This is so hard to discuss...does anyone else feel this way. I am actually blushing writing this stuff. How do I know if it's bladder? Vagina? Rectal? Do I speak with my OB? I am 56. Menapause for about 5 years on HRT. I also noticed that a very strong orgasm seems to make everything push down? What to do?

It could have been OK one day and pushed out the next. A professional will have to determine what’s what but yes, an orgasm can tend to push it all down. I have had diagnosed prolapses (rectal and bladder that present inward toward the vagina) since I was 65. I’m 69 now and wear a pessary that I remove at least every 24 hours. Best wishes for an easy resolution.

Hello Gail, I'm just wondering if anyone was given Clonidine [100.0 mcg/ml] either injection or pain pump. I am having side effects. Went to Mayo site listed a few side effects that I have. Calling my Allergist today if I can get someone to answer.

kimspr3,
I was not given clonidine that I know of. At least not to take on my own or any kind of pain pump. If I was given it in the hospital during or surrounding my surgery, then I don't know as I would not have been aware of it. Did you have surgery already? I would definitely call your allergist or the doctor that prescribed it for you in order to ask about side effects. I believe clonidine is given to adults for blood pressure/hypertension and sometimes for pain. In kids it is for hyperactivity sometimes as well but not so much in adults I don't think. I know about it because of blood pressure as my father had hypertension. It can make you tired and a bit dizzy at first but sometimes that goes away after a while. What are your side effects? Please don't be shy about letting your doctor know and getting your questions answered. But just wondering if you had your surgery yet?

I have been given Clonidine 0.1MG to take when my blood pressure spikes. I hate hate hate this med. My IQ drops to the moron level. No short term memory- makes it hard to cook a basic meal or make a decision. I didn't know it helped with pain, but I wasn't in pain when I needed it. Surely there must be better choices for pain meds. Now my cardiologist has prescribed nitroglycerin if I spike because I hate Clonidine so much.

@gardeningjunkie and @kimspr3,
Definitely there are better pain meds. I think it is off label when they do use it for that. Mainly a BP medicine. I take Verapamil for benign irregular heart beat and BP spikes. I have no side effects from it at all. Nothing like what you describe gardeningjunkie.

I'll research the Verapamil. I don't have an irregular heart beat, but have severe spikes even on high does of other blood pressure meds. I do believe I have figured out that stress or excitement causes my spikes as high as 215/115, just last week 204/104. I was watching Stranger Things a Nexflix horror series just before bed. I didn't notice my symptoms when watching it but when I lay down to sleep I know my blood pressure is up as I can hear it in both each and on my left side the vein or artery pulses hard in my neck, enough to visually see the beat. Sadly will resign myself to less exciting television or reading which is better than having a stroke. I also get a happy stress when entertaining house-guests which we have frequently. I like everything to be perfect and I know I expect too much from myself.

@kimspr3,
Are you by yourself? If you feel that you are having serious enough side effects to be dangerous, please get to an ER or call 911. You probably know yourself best but if you feel it is necessary, I would definitely not hesitate. We are keeping you in our thoughts.
