Many of us with kidney concerns have autoimmune conditions, also, and in fact autoimmune issues can be the cause of our kidney problems, like it is in my case.

I found this link. I know someone who works at my local hospital library. She has given me a lot on CHrcc and I am waiting for more about a possible (using that term "possible" loosely) link between psoriasis and cancers, including kidney cancer.

@cindyc I had not heard of chromophobe renal cell cancer. But then again, there are a lot of things i haven't heard of!

Truly I am not trying to sound snarky here, and please forgive me if it sounds like it to you. As we patients search for causes/reasons of our health issues [and distress], if we look hard enough or long enough, we may indeed find information to support what we think. It may or may not be misguided. It may or may not be accurate. What I will say with conviction, is that there can be so many factors involved, and each of us can be so different from one another [similar but different, nonetheless] that the combination of what makes up each of us needs to be taken into consideration.

In my own personal experience, my kidney issues initially pointed to specific causes, until further research was done. It was easier to place me into a known box, rather than search outside of it. Bless the heart of the nephrologist who took that chance!

I agree. It just made me curious. I may have inherited CHrcc. I don't know. I do spend time trying to learn a few things. I stumbled on this material. I hope I am going to the right sources, outlets, and so forth.

I know there is a lot of misinformation out there, too. This is precisely why I am not on Social Media anymore (FB, Linkedin, Twitter). The stuff presented can be so far from real life.

Two of my doctors told me not to use "Dr. Google." I don't.😄

I am a veterinarian with SCC head and neck cancer, but I follow a lot of Mayo Clinic information sites as well as other reliable research oriented like Harvard and Memorial Sloan Kettering. I also subscribe to Medscape. Recently I have been reading articles about the link between Psoriasis and Kidney Cancer, with the first coming from Mayo. It is interesting and they are still learning about what drives the connection. Keep up your research as educating yourself is giving you power to make your best health care decisions.

Hello, did a little reading. Sorry to hear what you’re going through. It’s a struggle for all. I have all three types of kidney stones. Sodium phosphate, calcium and struvite. Struvite are prone to women that are prone to UTIs. Very uncommon for men to have these crystals. I’ve gone to many specialists on Long Island and in New York City I’ve been in four different hospitals in the last year and a half with seven surgeries. They told me I’m at the end now they use the term ECDK end stage kidney disorder. When a man has struvite kidney stones it’s proving to be fatal. And what I’m wondering is, are you experiencing a buildup of crystals in your kidneys as well?
