Post Covid gastrointestinal issues: How long do they last?

Posted by clmmdm @clmmdm, Mar 19, 2023

Two months out from having Covid. Gastrointestinal issues still bothering me. Gas pains throughout mid section. Dr put me on Pantoprazole last week. Somewhat better but still experiencing gas pains.

I had had covid in November and still have issues.
I to am on Pantoprazole as well as Famotidine, but still have the issue.
I also still have no taste and no smell. No one seams to have an answer.

Hi Scott, Thanks for responding. How long have you been on the pantroprazole? Have you seen a gastroenterologist? My pain which feels like gas pains, is mostly in the stomach and intestine area.

Hi,
I have been on the men's fo 60 days.
The gastro doctor is who put me on the medication.

Has anyone with long Covid gastrointestinal issues shown any improvement with their symptoms? Wondering how long it will last!

My post covid gastrointestinal issues lasted 6months. The first 3 months after were the worst and then they slowly began getting better. The h2 blockers did not work for me and coming off of them was terrible! Try to eliminate foods with high histamine that cause a lot of acid. I had to eat very bland for the first 3 months post covid.

Thank you for your post. I am almost at 3 months so hopefully will slowly keep getting better.

I've had gastro issues for almost a year and a half. Have had every test there is, and they all come back normal. It is so frustrating.

Same, been since Feb 9, 2023. I figure I'll be gone this time next year if something doesn't change.
