Does anyone have discoid lupus?

I am 77 yoa and have been diagnosed with Lupus for about 30 years.
last March I had surgery on my cervical spine and my surgeon requested that I go off Plaquenil. I have been of this for drug since 3/2022 and have been having outbreaks on my face that are very Scally and itchy. any suggestions ?

Have you discussed with your doctor whether you should return to taking hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) or not?

I never took oral medication for discoid lupus. I receive injections directly into the lesion on my scalp to reduce the inflammation .

Morning jayrob
I had shot directly into my scalp for areas of outbreak but they have not worked and I can't recall the name for the injection.
What has worked for you?
I have used several topical ointments and rx from my Dr but nothing seems to work for very long.

yes, we have talked about that avenue about 2-3 months ago and I decided to stay off Plaquenil.
but I have been experiencing more activity on my face.
Very frustrated

How long did the shots work for?
The shots I received didn't last for more h
than 7-10 days.

I started the shots in Dec 2021 once a month for 1 year and now I am only getting them every other month. I have some hair growth in the area and the redness and itching has almost gone completely.
