Thank you for your response. Who do I contact at Mayo to set up an appointment? Did your insurance cover the visit/testing? How often do you have to go to Mayo? Is Mayo in contact with your local MD (gastroenterologist) ? Which Mayo location do you go to ? Lots of questions I know, but I am so excited to communitate with people who have this disorder. Do you have palpable "lumps and bumps" around the midsection and other areas of your body. I have them, as well as a CT finding of "shadowy" plaques on the mesentery. I will continue to contact you as I continue to continue on my journey for diagnosis and treatment. Meaghan @mdav1943

My contact at Mayo in Rochester MN is Dr. Darreell Pardi. He is a central researcher in sclerosing mesenteritis. He is a member of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology..My insurance paid as if I were seeing a doctor in SAT. At first Ins. did not want to pay because MN is over 75 miles from SAT. But once I made it clear that no one in SAT knew how to treat my case they relented. But I did have to wrangle with them after the fact about whether I had a referral or not. I always won!. I generally went to Rochester once a year. In 2011 I was told to return in 2 years. Mayo will be in contact with your local doctor. They are old hands at this kind of communication and coordination. I go to the MN location because it is the only one doing serious research on SM. I don't have palpable lumps or bumps. My tumor encases the superior mesenteric artery, a very dangerous development. Please do contact me as the need arises. I am sorry to have taken 12 days to respond, but I am such a duffer on this web site that it took me a while to figure out how to use it. PS., I think you will like Pardi and his assistant/nurse Patti Kammer.
