I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration in April. By reading the doctor's transcription and checking the terms online, I believe I am in stage 2 of the 3 stages of the disease. It is in my family -- 3 other members have it.
I sm 67, single, and work full time. I cannot afford to retire. But I am afraid of the future because I am aware of the changes in my vision. I have always loved reading, but am now doing it with a magnifying glass, even though I have brand new glasses with bifocals. Is there anyone out there that is dealing with this condition and this kind of fear? @michaellutz

As the subject line states, my Mom was just diagnosed with DMD. What I need from you guys is to let me know what I can do to help her out. She is a widow and lives alone. She's 80 but acts 40. I want to do all I can for her.

Thanks!

I have just been diagnosed with it and have very little information. Anything you could share would be great.
Thank you and please give you Mom my warmest regards!

I was diagnosed with "slight" DMD. I'm 81 & in excellent health. Dr. said check again "next year", i.e April 2013. Any info on how rapidly DMD can progress? I have no problem driving at all but I worry about the future. Thank you
