Incidental MRI findings

Posted by perrychristopher @perrychristopher, Oct 14, 2022

Has anyone else had incidental findings on their abdominal MRI scan prior to PCa treatment? I was told not to worry and have another MRI in 4 to 6 months to make sure 8 mm liver lesion benign in appearance remains stable. Thanks.

@perrychristopher, "incidental findings" can be unsettling. Benign liver lesions are quite common and often go undectected and need no treatment. Right now your focus is on the prostate cancer. Because of your imaging studies for cancer, your liver lesion may get more attention than most people's do. That's a good thing. đŸ™‚

It's quite common to simply monitor liver lesions to see if there any changes in growth or shape. How are you feeling about it?

Hey @perrychristopher ,
I had the exact same thing located on my PSMA PET CT, everyone at the practice said essentially what @colleenyoung is saying here. Very common usually nothing.

I have three sisters that are nurses, (a surgical, a NP, and a Hospice nurse) they never agree on anything clinically Haha! Yet, they all agreed it was most likely nothing and not to bother following up on absent symptoms and good liver enzyme numbers.

Thanks. That makes me feel better. The PCa is making me nervous about everything frankly.

I feel ok about it. I knew I was going to have another MRI in the 4 to 6 months as recommended but still it is unsettling a bit. A couple of oncologists looked at the scan in June this year and were not concerned. However, since I had PCa they recommend a followup. If no PCa diagnosis I wouldn't need a followup on the medical flowcharts Ive2 seen. Thanks for your comment I appreciate it.

I had the follow-up abdominal scan. No signs of metastatic cancer on the liver. The 8mm lesion is a complex cyst or angioma. No worries there at least.
