How to cope with depression, anxiety and bipolar

Posted by trouse @trouse, Apr 3, 2013

Hello friends,
I have ben dealing w/ depression for the past three years. Recently it has become worse. I have been off sick since March 2012 w/ an contagious infectious disease called cediff difficile. I have had three reacurrances. seeing disease specialist and GI doctor. this illness has caused me to loose my dream home, my job, have no income. I am living in my parents basement till I get better. I also have some other issues going on w/ all of this. I have been through alot over the three years and I guess it is getting to me NOW! I am thinking of joing a discussion group that meets every Thursday. I cry all the time, having nightmares and cannot seem to get adjusted to the way I am living now.
Need some suggesstions and people that I can talk to who has been through this or something like this.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Hi Trouse. I myself was very unwell over the last few years then last year I actually gave up my work completely. I didn't think that I would ever be able to return to work but I have. It took time but I got there.I think that what has got me through is to keep a positive attitude and rely on my inner strength. I too used to cry a lot and in a way its not a bad thing it helps to releive the stress. I think that if you feel that a support group would help well that could be a good thing.if it benefits you. Just remember not to take on everyone elses worries as well. Things will get better i.m sure just be patient and try to do things that make you feel a little relaxed a small walk everyday, I find that lavender oil helps me. Before you try to go to sleep think of something beautiful like different coloured butterflies in a beautiful field of flowers, it helps put your mind in a good place and will help get rid of the bad dreams. Take care my friend always here anytime if you need me Annie

Annie, thanks for the reply! I called the support group coordinator and left a message to see if he ould do a one on one session for me. Due to my previous and ongoing illness my doctor does not want me to be around the public as of now. My immune system is shot and at this point they do not want me to catch anything else. I am allergic to lavendar but I use this stress relief w/ speriment and eucalyptus. it doesn't work that well. I am waiting for the weather to get warmer to get some fresh air and start walking. I am dealing not only w/ my problems but others as well! I need just to be relieved and have some positive news right now. It seems like it is only negative. I just want to scream. I have a boston terrier BOOMER who is my baby boy. I cannot have kids due to an emergency total hysterectomy that I had done 4 ywears ago. That is when all of this started. Currently I have lost my dream home, lost my job, and have no income. I am waiting now for a reply from social disability. I am praying for a miracle it gets approved. To get back to my dog, he helps me so much and its weird but he always know when something is not right w/ me. He sleeps w/ me everynight and always w/ me by my side. He is my pride and joy! Thank you so much for being there. It is good to have someone to talk to. My husband and I are dealing w/ my situation along w/ his. He currently lost his job as well. Thank You again! It just seems like the friends that I had are not around or call anymore, my husband is having the same problem.

Hi again, it's so true that you really know who your true friends are when things are down, I know that feeling well and have lost many myself even on Mayo.Little Boomer sounds beautiful I have a stuffy heeler cross and we call him Boogie. They can be such a comfort to you and they do know when things aren't right. Things will improve it's just takes time and alot of patience on our behalf. Sorry that things are not right for you at the moment. Hopefully your husband will be able to find work which would help your situation. You know there's an old saying that I always keep remembering 'Ther'es always light at the end of every rainbow' and it's so true. I love rainbows and always have. Do you like reading it may help to distract from the present situation that your dealing with a really good book can be great at times.Just remember that when things are at the lowest ebb that there's only one way and thats to come back up again and you will and beleive me things will get better. Take care always here anytime Annie

Annie,
Thank You! What you wrote has helped me understand that I am not alone! Although it does feel like I am. I remember that saying about Rainbows!! I am hoping to see at the end of my rainbow a pot of gold! It could happen! BOOGIE, sounds like he is special. I love the name by the way! Love it! I also have a cat OSCAR, but I am allergic to cats, so he sticks w/ my husband. BOOMER sticks with his mama!!
I love to read at times. I love all the books and movies by NICHOLAS SPARKS. Sometimes though they are so emotional ! I love to read the tabloids, mostly about Robert pattinson and Kristen Stewart. I am a huge fan of all the Twilight movies. I actually got my husband getting hooked on them. I am a very emotional person so i take things to heart. I am also very romantic which my husband isn't. He never was. It must be because he is a police officer! He has been there for me in many ways.
It's funny how you said think of something that cheers you up! LOL Robert Pattinson. My husband always says that I am obsessed w/ Twilight etc. LOL Hey whatever helps, right?
I just was watching a movie on LMN/ ONLY IF w/ Jennifer Love Hewitt, which my husband adores, he thinks she is the bomb! LOL I cried through the whole movie. It was an awesome movie. If you get a chance watch it. I should stay away from movies that are emotional and fantasy, but that is who I am.
I am going to try the discussion group, see how it feels. I will let you know!

I know we have talked a few times but I consider you a great friend! I want to thank you for that! You are very understanding! Let's keep in contact and help each other through our rough times! Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi me again, Glad that i've helped never feel alone because your'e not. I like watching movies to I too am an emotional person and even cry at the end of childrens movies lol The lion King was one that i remember well. As for rainbows when i was very young i always used to look up to see if i could actually see the pot of gold, yet to find it sure it's there somewhere. I love the stories by A.A. Milne of Winnie the Pooh was brought up on all the stories which are truly beautiful hence my facebook name of Piglit. I have suffered from anxiety from a very young age and my dear Mum used to read me the stories it gave me great comfort and still does. I feel too that you have become a great friend too and would like very much too keep in touch. Will send a request to be a friend accept if you like and then at times we can communicate off line of the Mayo site Annie
