Post Whipple new "spot" showing on CT
Has anyone else been told they've had a new "spot" show up in CT Scans? They wouldn't give an answer to where, just said new spot, not appearing to be growing between the last 2 scans but the vague ambiguity is mildly annoying.
This is 11 months post whipple.

PS-my scan reports always post on my medical portal. Read those and ask questions! I couldn’t sleep one night if a doctor would not share where the spot was! I would demand to know! I always take the CD with me and print the reports

2 ReactionsI am just shy of 2 yrs post Whipple. I have had “suspicious” spots show up in my surveillance CT scans. Oncologist has been very cautious and has ordered additional testing including biopsy when warranted. All are continuously monitored for change. It can be nerve wracking to wait for results, but I keep reminding myself anything will be caught early - and can be treated. Stay strong!

6 ReactionsI was so frustrated with radiology I asked that radiology be contacted to be more definitive. If the report is seen by surgeon, the surgeon will review the scan personally to be more definitive. The medical oncologist doesn't typically read CT scans. I personally wanted as much information from my scans as possible. A "spot" must have some possibilities associated with it, the radiologist should make some comment on the possible nature of the "spots". I can highly recommend reading your own reports.

2 ReactionsAm hoping to go over his patient portal in more depth, hospital seems to take time getting documents and data uploaded to it. So, hopefully I'll be able to get access to it this afternoon to see if there is anything concerning. Appreciate it.

1 ReactionWelp, finally got access to his patient portal.. There's not a single mention of anything to do with the oncology department or his cancer in the patient portal at all. Not a single radiology scan concerning this, nothing.. Cardiology.. plenty.. Urology.. Yep.. General.. Yep.. Oncology.. Nope.. Hematology.. Nopiedope! Ugh! Department is literally in the same building under the same Physician Group.
I couldn’t see anything until I requested a copy of my medical record from certain dates. That’s when I saw every doctor note that normally we won’t see under the patient portal. Patient portal is very limited . Useless information mode the most part.
@ihatesnowinindiana, any update? Did you get a chance to speak with the cancer team and learn more about the scan results? What are the next steps?
