@catwhisperer, I can hear your frustration and desperation. Because Mayo Clinic has more requests for appointments than available openings, many factors are taken into consideration.

If the denial is based on insurance and you feel there is confusion about your willingness to self pay, please contact Mayo Clinic's Patient Account Services at 844-217-9591

Thanks for the recommendations, Colleen. I told the woman who called me from the referrals department that I was willing to self pay but she told me that because of my insurance, the answer was a flat out no. I don’t think there was any confusion, but I can check out those leads on the off chance they might get me closer to my goal.
