You have endometriosis cancer

Posted by angg11923 @angg11923, Jan 19, 2023

I went for a ultrasound today and found out I have endometriosis cancer, I continue to run that script through my mind.
I'm somewhat okay, but cannot remove that conversation from my mind. Trying to compose myself but the tears continue..
I will be STRONG and keep my FAITH.
Waiting to hear from the Gyn Oncology.
I know Faith and Fear cannot occupy the same space, so I choose FAITH.

Hello,

I had a d&c on December 29th and found out I have endometrial cancer. It is hard for me also to remove that conversation from my head. I am guilty of reading way to much information on the internet about this cancer and seem to keep thinking of the worst case scenario. I talked to my surgeon and he said that it was caught early which somewhat eased my mind. My surgery is scheduled next week but I still have so many what if's running through my head. I found hyster syster's is really helping me through this journey. It helps to talk to other women that are going through the same thing. Stay strong and keep in touch.

Let me first say that hearing the word "cancer" in a diagnosis is very traumatic. I remember well when the gynecologist told me that my biopsy (done through dilation and curettage or D&C) showed endometrial cancer. I was in shock and could barely breathe.

I hope I can help you understand your diagnosis.

I have some questions for you. You had an ultrasound. Did a medical doctor tell you that this is "endometriosis cancer"? Did you talk with the radiologist who reads the scan? Endometriosis isn't cancer.

Here is information from Mayo Clinic that explains what endometriosis is and how it is diagnosed.

Endometriosis:

Endometrial cancer is diagnosed with a biopsy where endometrial lining of the uterus is removed and sent to a pathologist (a medical doctor) to put under a microscope and diagnose. An ultrasound, like you had, is a first step for the radiologist to view the uterus and see if there are any abnormalities such as a thick endometrial lining in the uterus (that's what my ultrasound showed). Then a biopsy is done.

Endometrial cancer:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/endometrial-cancer/symptoms-causes/syc-20352461

Does this explanation help?

I hope the doctor will help you to understand your diagnosis and make plan with you to treat you.

Do you have an appointment with your doctor to talk over your diagnosis?

Hello i am 46 and the other day i got my result from the biopsy of my uterine lining, and the doctor told me its endometrial cancer. I was shocked, what a birthday present! Right on my birthday i received this news. She wants me to have the mri and chest xray to see if its not spread yet through my body which i am hoping for(crossed fingers) i am hoping that it is in early stage so that the healing process will be good as i am working as a caregiver. I was devasted but my faith is holding me. I trust everything to the Lord.

Hi,
The biopsy was done by my ObGyn, and I was scheduled for the ultrasound yesterday.
My biopsy results was posted b4 my ObGyn could give me the results herself, so when the physician for the ultrasound read the results, she advised me.
My ObGyn called me the same day and I have a referral with a Gyn Onocology and will wait for them to contact me.

Please elaborate on hyster systers. I would like to know more about support groups. I am diagnosed and awaiting surgery in a couple of weeks. Thanks

I was first sent to get a pelvic ultrasound, and went to a gynecologist for a biopsy a few days later. When the gyno called on Dec. 1 to give me the diagnosis or en DDT ometrial cancer, he told me that it was low grade, and that if one had to have cancer, this was the kind to have because the outcome is typically very good. Had my Da Vinci laparoscopic total hysterectomy with bilateral ovaries and tubes removed on Dec. 20th. Within 12 hours of surgery 6 wa sc up walking laps in the hospital hall. At home the next day I didn't need any pain meds. On the 28th I got the news that the cancer was gone and I didn't need any further treatment! 75-80% of women only need surgery because this type of cancer grows slowly and gets caught early. Please be encouraged and hopeful. I have found this cancer to be a great blessing to me.

I myself just joined Hyster Sisters. I clicked on the Help Center Tab and then I clicked on How to use Mayo Clinic Connect. I signed up and joined Gynecologic Cancers. It really helps to connect with other women that are going through the same thing as I am. I hope you find this support group as helpful as I did.
