Anyone experienced nipple soreness post menopause?

I'm not quite understanding this question. Did you get diagnosed with breast cancer? Or are you just post-menopausal?

Hi, @trixie1313 - thanks for joining this discussion to offer help and support, and sorry for any confusion. @jkhambati mentioned being 54 and postmenopausal in this Connect Women's Health thread called "Nipple soreness in postmenopausal women." She mentioned having the same problems as @margaret902, the first member to post in this discussion - cited as nipples that are more sore, tender and flattened out, with the areola is less pink than normal, with no other illness and no medications being taken.

I'm hoping that @jkhambati will return and provide a few more details. @jkhambati - will you let @trixie1313 and others in this discussion know any other relevant context about your concerns about the nipples? I believe you are indicating you are post-menopausal but don't have any medical conditions currently?

The soreness may just be change in hormones for post-menopausal. But always be aware of any other symptoms. My nipple and breast kept itching and then just due to happenstance, I felt a lump at which time I had ultrasound and biopsy showing invasive breast cancer. Again, it could just be hormonal changes, but be aware of your body. If your breasts are dense, ask mammogrram tech to do magnification of breasts during mammogram as regular mammogram does not always pick up lesions in that instance.

I, too, have and have had for last 5-6 years, terribly sore nipples, flattened and pale in color. I am postmenopausal have regular mammograms which have been normal. I am wondering if a postmenopausal woman can actually have estrogen dominance.

Yes they can - I had complete hysterectomy (ovaries & uterus) removed at age 44 and am now 67. Was shocked at breast biopsy to find out that I was 91%-100% estrogen receptor positive. Keep undergoing mammograms and if you have dense breasts, ask for magnification views to rule out any lesions. Also be sure to do your own monthly breast checks.

I just jumped online to learn more about this as I’m experiencing the same. I’m 57 and 4 years post-menopausal with no other issues or medications.

When did your nipple soreness start? Is it constant or is it off and on?
