Benzodiazepine class action law suit

Has anyone looked into a class action law suit regarding Benzodiazepines?

I was on benzodiazepines 35 years ago for having major panic attacks. I was gradually taken off them ( Xanax) and the process took a year. After I took my last Xanax six days went by and I felt fine. On day number seven when I went to bed I started having what I now know to be “rebounding.” I had nearly every night horrific nightmares, waking up screaming, covered with perspiration. My brain felt like it was literally banging up against my skull. This went on almost every night for six months. I never thought about suing the pharmacology/makers of Xanax ( Upjohn Pharmaceuticals) but I certainly questioned my psychiatrist for not informing me about “ rebounding”.

I have spoken to two different lawyers, neither were interested in taking a benzo case.

I've spoken to and called multiple lawyers to find help against a doctor who withdrew my son suddenly, with no refills/no tapering/no instructions/no suggestions, from Klonopin. I've hit dozens of brick walls. The last lawyer stated he considered my son's situation a tragic life, a tragic case, but too expensive and difficult to go further due to the complexity of his illness and the 20 years of poor treatment.

Does anyone know of a Klonopin Class action lawsuit? or can this be included in the Benzo suit?
Any help is appreciated and needed!
Thanks.

I was also on Klonopin and similar drugs for years with negative results and I experienced considerable discomfort. Please let me know if there is a class action suit. Thanks.

I wish I knew. The pharmaceutical companies and the doctors need to be held accountable. Making someone cold turkey a benzodiazepine is heinous. The doctor tortured your son and got away with it. Maybe someday we’ll be taken seriously. In the mean time good luck and God bless.

I'm so sorry for your son's tragic experience.

Whereas it's clearly a result of improper management of his Klonopin dosage, I'm afraid I can't see any way to attribute the outcome to the medicine (often very useful) itself but rather to its egregious misuse in misprescribing.

I personally know second hand of a woman who died because of her personal misuse of klonopin (contrary to what she was ordered), but that too I don't see as attributable to the manufacturer of the medication but the patient's negligence.

However, I most certainly do see that negligent psychiatrist responsible for your son's care, as liable for a slam-dunk malpractice suit.

(I took klonopin for a long time, and from the first day it was prescribed my psychiatrist gave me careful, emphatic instructions on rules for its consumption - especially, the need for its conscientious GRADUAL titration up or down as indicated.

I think this is absolutely standard practice and you should be able to find responsible psychiatrists to back you up.

(The woman I know of who died, went into "status epilepticus" which killed her.)

My deepest sympathies to you and others who have suffered from professional misprescribing of this powerful - but often very useful - medication when prescribed according to the manufacturer's cautionary notes.

Only in numbers can we get a class action law suit going. Keep spreading the word in Canada and USA.

Of course, you're so right. This just poured out of me after reading the posts! I know this must be a personal suit against the doc/medical group who harmed my son. This changed him at the time, a year+ago, and almost killed him. Even worse, he's still not the same. His brain is forever changed. His life is forever worse and it was hell prior to this event. I'll never have that precious, bright man back. I'm truly furious.
And, I am still praying for some help for him .

Give this some more time. You may be surprised as to how he bounces back. It can take a long time to heal for some people, but healing 100% happens all the time.
