lumbar spinal stenosis

Almost a year ago, was diagnosed with severe lumbar spinal stenosis, as well as disc issues. Have seen several doctors, had two facet joint injections, an ablation, one epidural out of a series of three. I take narcotic analgesics with minimal relief. I had been very active, playing tennis, hiking, biking. My life came to a halt. I am barely able to work. Had a heart transplant ten years ago and have renal failure from the anti-rejection medications. Am not a good surgical candidate. Also had an adverse reaction to anesthesia during the transplant. Is there any help out there? Physical therapy worked for a while but not any longer.

oh my you have had a rough time. so sorry. i had lumbar surgery and it was a lot of help i was going to let you know. but when i continued to read of all your problems i don't know.
anyway, i couldn't walk much or sleep, one leg had continually pain. couldn't lay on hip etc. what surgeon saw in mri was i had 3 vertabrae extremely out of line and cord could have been severed, dics compressed. surgeon used some of my hip bone and cadabers bone as a wedge between disks and realigned spine with a rod and screws.
afterwards no hip OR leg pain but can't seem to walk very far with ach starting. going away when sitting a bit. best wishes to you

That sounds like a major surgery with a long recovery period. I really appreciate the input.

just to be encouraging to others, my lumbar surgery was an extreme help in my life. although i am retired so i can sit when needed but i do all my housework and shop, just sit a bit inbetween, pace yourself. my constant pain is GONE and a blessing i sleep all night through with no discomfort. hope this was helpful to others, i'd do it again. there was no after thereapy or pills once past post-op discomfort. well worth it. the recovery perioddepends on the extent of surgery. best wishes!

I was diagnosed with severe L4/L5 spinal stenosis and was experiencing severe siatica shooting pains. I discovered and started practicing the Gokhale Primal Posture Method and have been virtually pain free for several years now. My spine surgeon is fine with it and encourages me to eliminate or at least dellay the need for surgery.

Hi - did you take a group class to learn the technique or order the CDs? I can only fine the one hour workshop in my area.

I’m so glad it’s helped you!!

I started with the book, which made sense to me, but I was able to do a one day “pop up” group training class which was helpful to fully understand the method and practice with trained instructors.

Could you give me more detail about your book? Is it available on utube? Or other platforms?
Thanks

Cathy, I'm tagging @sbcarcht so they see your message and can give more details about the book to which they refer.

The book is "8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back" by Esther Gokhale. A Mayo neurologist with an M.D. and PH.D. called it "The greatest contribution ever made to non-surgical back pain treatment." Go to https://gokhalemethod.com for various information. I've also been able to find used copies online that I've given to friends. You can learn a lot reading the book, but if possible try to do at least a one day or online training with Esther or one of her qualified teachers.
