Congestive Heart Failure

Posted by bobed @bobed, Jul 20, 2012

I was just diagnosed with CHF. From the research I have done, I am finding everything from rather positive to downright depressing prognosis. Hoping someone out there has some positive experience with controlling this. I f so, please
tell me your story and any tips on improving my health.

I am 83 and was diagnosed with CHF five years ago after having experienced quintuple bypass--which in itself was a huge surprise. Of course, low salt, etc. I have fluid build up on my abdomen, which is uncomfortable. A low-salt diet is difficult to maintain, and when I don't, I suffer. I wonder if anyone has had good success with low salt diet alterations. It becomes really difficult when eating out.

Recently diagnoses with Congestive Heart Failure. Cardiologist was watching as they did my EKG, said we need to make medication changes immediately! Took me off, my 2 blood pressure medications and put me on 3 heart failure medications, Entresto 49mg/51 mg, 2 times a day, Farxiga 10 mg 1 a day and coveg 12.5 mg, 2 times a day. Never told me I was in heart failure, contacted my cardiologist, after I found out what the new medications were for.

I was put on multaq 400 mg, 2 times a day, for uncontrolled AFIB , also had a stent put on, so i am on Brilinta 90 mg 2 times a day.
