Hello and welcome,
I'm sorry you were spoken to that way. We are not textbooks. You may have met some of the criteria for BPD and I'm hoping that everything was explained to you. It's different from an Axis I which is your depression. It's an Axis II a personality disorders. I'm happy that you feel you found answers and I hope you get the proper treatment.
Treatment for personality disorders is behavioural not medications. One is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy that teaches you how to regulate your emotions. Typically, being labeled BPD can be stigmatizing as with any mental illness.
I suggest you really educate yourself and if it's a valid assessment work very hard with a therapist trained/specializing in the treatment of Axis II's.
Best of luck and take good care of yourself ..always - Meds do help the mood. Were you diagnosed as bipolar?

No. Not bipolar. The textbook comment didn't bother me. I knew what she meant as soon as I started reading up on it. She was right. It describes me very well. At least I feel like I know what to treat and learn how. I know therapy is still impt. The psychologist I'm seeing is very understanding and seems knowledgable. I had been to previous therapists that never suggested any kind of condition or disorder other than the vague term of depression. The plan is to get the right meds titrated and then really work on finding me. Thanks for the reply. I'm glad I have a place to go now that someone else will understand. My husband tries but doesn't get it. God love him for dealing with me all these years. 😉

Okay as long as you are accepting and willing to do the work. I am proud of you.
best,
Rox

How did you, or loved ones help you the most? My son seems to be going down hill, and I can't seem to help him. What is it they did or did not do to help you the most.? He is on 4 different meds, including a mood stabalizer. I just don't know what to do to help him. Any advice?
