The Voices of Silence Issues of Bullying for children

Posted by piglit @piglit, Jun 3, 2012

I have started this discussion as I and many other parents have experienced this first hand. It does need to be discussed and I would like you all to feel free to do so. I have used the name Voices of Silence as there is a code with children not to speak about this and to tell their peers who is causing their ongoing distress. I am passionate about this. Please any questions just ask Annie

This topic is so important because if it is not addressed those same bullies target their peers at work when they become adults.

I still think of the 12 year old that is no longer with his family in New York due to bullying. It should be made criminal even for the young....

I just wanted everyone to be aware of the vulnerability to children who are being bullied, Having experienced this with my son, we need to be aware of the signs of a child that is being bullied. In my experience they lose total confidence, anger, tears, not being able to talk as in going into oneself. With my son the final warning sign for me was that one morning Mum I just don;t want to wake up anymore, That set of all warning sirens to me I was teaching at the junior school and he was in the senior school. I immediatedly made a phone call to a councellor that I knew. He was in with that consellor within 24hrs/ I took him there not knowing if he was clinically depressed. After a long talk with my son with me not in the room. He was very sad,This broke my heart and I broke down and cried and cried. My son had been emotionally abused and physically abused worse that the counsellor had seen in many years. I felt immense guilt and knew that I had to get him well. This took him to be removed from the school and to go into conselling sessions and to be so protected and nutured for many weeks. It was so bad that if he was standing in a line in a shopping centre he would have to leave due to panic. He did recover and was placed in another school that was aware of the issues that he had been through. They took him under there wings and taught him how to fly which he did. He is a beautiful young man know still insecure at times but acheiving his goals in life, I have told this story with much sadness as it still to this day breaks my heart, Please if any one of your children, friends are going through this take immediate action, stand up and let your voices be heard. Do all that you can to prevent this from happening. Please talk anytime that you feel the need too . I am here for each and everyone of you, and there are others caring members who are also willing to help in anyway we can. If your child is being bullied please offer them this post to voice their concerns and help will be here for them anytime Take care Piglit

In australia on the news last night they said that changes were going to be made to the Bullying laws. I so hope that they stand by their word this time. Another motion was passed in regards to this when my son was bullied and it wasnever put into place

It's prevalent everywhere as we just learned but what's important is that we not condone the behavior ...

Really shocked by abuse of a woman on a bus in the states. She was so verbally abused by about seven school children one of them passing comment that her own child wouldn't want her as a mother, This brat did not even realize that this woman's son had committed suicide. These children I beleive are in the process of being susupensed from their schools and are know receiving threats on them. It really is becoming a sad world when you hear of this. Actions speak louder than words at times and its more than time to place action behind these kind of bullies to make the world a safer place to live in. Also amazed that the woman new of the boys on the school bus and didn/t want to make any charges just wanted an apology. Amazing human being. I think that however she may be waiitng a while to see any remorse from these children. Hope i haven't come across too strong I'm very passionate about this and feel that enough is not being done. Take care Piglit
