John, how are you feeling? Do you have a J-tube?

Welcome home John.
I'm sure your still on NPO dietary orders (nothing per oral). Feeding tube or a J tube for several more weeks. It's a learning curve but once you get the hang of it you'll do just fine. One day at a time my friend. Make sure to get plenty of rest for healing.

Congrats on being home! My husband had his surgery 7/29 and after 2 weeks came home from the hospital. Recovery is not for the faint hearted. He’s on a J-tube which is working fine. He did develop pneumonia so that put him back a bit. Recommendation is to move as much as you can tolerate, and use the breathing apparatus’ they’ve given you. It will help a lot.
7 weeks post surgery he can take by mouth apple juice, popsicles - mostly clear liquids. Before the pneumonia, he was able to take avocado, mashed potatoes and canned carrots.
He’s got A LOT of nausea so that’s our current battle.
Good luck with your recovery and keep those positive vibes…
