What is the difference between Osteoperosis and Osteopina?

I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis recently after having osteopenia for years. I started taking Magtein, from NOW, available on Amazon. It was recommended to me along with D and K with sea iodine. It has d3, and K1, 2, and k2 in another form. By Life Extensions. I don’t take calcium either. My gynecologist also recommended me to take coQ10, for my leg cramps. She’s an expert on natural supplements and vitamins, she’s the one who told me my Vitamin D level was way too low, it should be around 70, not 30. It’s funny, my bloodwork and my pcp says everything is within normal levels for years, but I end up with osteoporosis.

Diagnosed early with osteopenia as an always slender caucasian woman. I took 1200 mg calcium, about 400 mg of magnesium and an active lifestyle. When the diagnosis changed to osteoporosis, I declined the bisphosphonates suggested by my pcp.
Now I am crippled with multiple spinal compression fractures at 79 and learning that my calcium use and other digestive issues contributed heavily to my stubborn obstipation.
Very discouraging to be alone with these issues.

I have osteopenia. Along with calcium, D3 and K2 I have recently started taking collagen. Can it also help with my osteopenia? I've been doing Reclast infusions yearly. My osteopenia hasn't gotten worse but hasn't improved either. I now have a stress fracture. So I'm starting to get even more concerned.

Do you have any side affects with the use of Reclast? I have only just been diagnose with OsteoPerosis and now they want me to choose which treatment I want to be on and the side affects they state are terrible. They also have Prolia to choose from.

I did not have any side effects from the reclast. I just wasn't seeing any improvements. Since I posted this and after my pelvic fracture I made some changes. Haven't done the reclast but I haven't had a scan either so I can say with certainty that the changes I made are working.

Hi,
I’m very interested in the changes you have been making.
I have moderate to severe Osteoporosis and agreed to start
my first Prolia injection in Feb.
since then I’ve had increased inflammation, and terrible knee pain, which my rheumatologist just assumes is due to my RA, but I know that the inflammation is much worse since I started the drug.
I have an excellent primary care MD, who has me on Bone Builder
Forte (OTC ), Calcium Citrate, and ordered strengthening PT exercises. I’m also eating more
Greens and eliminating sugar and just trying to eat healthier in general.
I also am tapering off my Prednisone, which was the main reason for my bone loss.
I probably will not continue with Prolia. The last thing I need is more inflammation.
Please let me know what changes you are making.
Thanks!
