Surgery recovery and PMR

I just had my gall bladder removed last Thursday. I am expecting that recovery might take longer with my PMR. Any personal experience or insight would be appreciated.

Hi @lanafromidaho, I have never had surgery while my PMR is active but hopefully others who have experience can share with you. I did find some information that mentions it may be helpful in the recovery process.

"Can I take steroids after gallbladder surgery?
A study presented at the American Society of Anesthesiologists 2010 Annual Meeting in San Diego seems to confirm that a single, small dose of the steroid dexamethasone improves the post-surgical quality of life of patients receiving laparoscopic gallbladder surgery."

Are you still in the process of tapering off of prednisone?

Thank you for the information. I am at 3.5 and plan on tapering about every 7 weeks a half mg at a time. I am going to wait til I feel really recovered before doing so

Hello. I have had two successful surgeries on pred for PMR. Both times I was given a booster of steroids to help with the stress of the surgery. I made sure the surgeon and anaesthesiologist knew on the day that I was on steroids. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
