When 2 Let go & put yourself first

Posted by China @china, May 17, 2012

I struggle. The depression and nights with lil sleep hurts. I just want to be normal. I joke around but deep down not feeling so good. I moved and left my family 2 help a friend who burned all resources & said she needed me. She is sweet and I love her. But I can't take this I miss my family. I think more depressed because I don't want 2 be here. Her OCD and issues with dieting drive me nuttier.
How can I tell her that I want to go home but not disappoint her.
Thx

I am sure your friend senses you are wanting to go. I would just try to be honest and mention how much you miss your own family. You can't be there for everyone. Put your family first

Caring & support is always a 2 way street, even when we feel we are the care giver in the relationship. Those we care for know & see the toll taken on those around them! Depression & anxiety grow with isolation & a reduced support system. Your family & friends are a lifeline!
Your friend likely already knows.

P.S. I know depression, it's a daily struggle no facade diminishes!

I think that your friend may need professional help that you are unable to provide. You should really suggest to her about maybe seeing a counselor and psychiatrist for her OCD. Mental illnesses are difficult on not only the victim of the disease, but the family and friends too. Even though you love your friend very much you need to do what's best for you. Maybe try to get her in good hands (seeing a counselor, psychiatrist, etc.) and head back home.

I am proud of you for moving back with your family. While friendship is very important you have to be happy and it did not seem like you were happy.
Best of Luck!
