I am on bed due to major leg fracture and for 3 months and since last month my jaw clicks when i open my mouth but there is no pain or discomfort in my mouth and i also have chronic sinusitis.
Please tell me is this due to 3 months bed rest.
Or due to sinusitis or deficiency.
And also there is one more thing i eat from my left side of mouth due to broken teeth on my right side.
When i googled for it it shows that i have tmj and there is no cure for tmj please help me..

I have this problem. The dentist told me not to chew gum as it makes it worse. I haven’t chewed gum for a few years and it is alot better i try not to open my mouth really wide when I yawn

I dont chew gum at all. very rarely. And even I dont like to open mouth too wide. But sometimes it happens involuntarily. Specially when I am sitting alone. When I am talking to ppl, it doesnt happen often. I think my attention gets diverted. It such an embarrassing and annoying problem.

Hello @adamli, here are a few links from Mayo Clinic that may point you in the right direction as to which type of doctor to see, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tmj/symptoms-causes/syc-20350941 and https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tmj/care-at-mayo-clinic/mac-20350949.

I had a similar issue. Mine was tmj related from years of grinding my teeth. Got a night guard from my dentist then got a backup one online from Sportingsmiles.

@mikestrizz A physical therapist may be able to help too. I have had some TMJ issues that happened alongside having thoracic outlet syndrome and a cervical spine problem that makes my neck tight and affects jaw alignment. My PT does myofascial release along with traditional therapy. It has helped. I have had a clicking jaw too, and that can indicate a problem with the disc in the joint of the jaw and wear and tear.

Here is our discussion on myofascial release.
