Stage 4 Colon Cancer - chemo and itching

Posted by alice9 @alice9, Aug 16, 2022

My wife just had her 15th infusion of Oxaliplatin and 5FU. For the first time she has terrible itching. It started on her scalp and now is on her legs and arms also. She will contact her dr. today. Has anyone else had this side effect, and if so, what helped relieve the itching.
Thank you.
Alice

Welcome @alice9. Fellow members @jenna12 @bush had Oxaliplatin and 5FU chemo and may be able to provide their tips and if they experienced itching. Allow me to bring in some fellow stage 4 colorectal cancer warriors, like @wifemom3 @heathe26 @eddiebu @mari49112 @lisag03 @tplante1970 @duckduck2020 @margreet and others.

@alice9, were you able to get in touch with your wife's doctor or symptom management nurse today? What was suggested to relieve the itching?

During my Chemo I had no problem with itch, just a runny nose and funny taste in my mouth and often diarrhea.

The PA sent in a prescription for something (oral) to relieve the itch.

@alice9, fingers crossed that the prescription helps. Please let me and other members who may be experiencing the same know how it works out. How are YOU doing?
