Workplace Violence Hurts ... It Almost Ended My World

Posted by Roxie43 @roxie43, Apr 13, 2012

Do you know of someone who has been made to feel worthless by a boss, company,or a culture; that promotes and rewards cruelty to human beings?

Do you think it's o.k. to go to work, work hard and be intentionally hurt by workplace bullies who abuse their power?

Just like bullying in classrooms/schools is leading to bullycide's and a host of psychological issues for our youth, adults in the workplace across the world are also suffering.

Workplace, discrimination and retaliation (if you report the sometimes unlawful behaviors):
Robs an individual of their self worth, causes enormous amounts of stress, exacerbates pre-existing health conditions, can limit one's career growth, results in the hard work one does not being recognized and can also include defamation of character, slander, hostile and unhealthy work environments and even SUICIDE!

Sometimes the behavior can be subtle but the abuser knows exactly what he or she is doing. Often the abuser is manipulative and convinces individuals who they perceive as weak to do the dirty work for them so when the behavior is finally reported they are protected.

I welcome your stories and I also thank you in advance

Good morning friends & supporters,
Just left the US DISTRICT COURT. Truly humbling to say the least. I was so anxious but left with a sense of pride. I have a lot of work to do but in the end I know that what I have endured will make me stronger, wiser and accountability will prevail.
I have 14 days to gather all my documents and submit them to the judge. I'm on my way to get the 177 pages of proof to submit today because I'm not waiting.
Although, this stirs up horrible memories and nightmares I have to do this because I've suffered just like many of you have and its not right. Now my employer is sending me letters threatening to cancel my health insurance while I'm out recovering from what they intentionally did to me. Still, I am not going to give up because it just goes to further prove how heartless some people can be. I almost lost everything including my housing but they continue targeting me and I'm home.
I ask for your continued support and please if you're being hurt by an employer speak up because hard working people deserve to go to work and be safe, treated with dignity and respect and not have to contemplate the imaginable because of stigma and indifference.
Take care my friends,
Rox

Im sorry but I'm not a hateful person. Perhaps if I were like the criminals that hurt me I wouldn't have been hurt in the first place. I'm proud of this attribute but even my doctors feel I should be angry especially since I work in the mental health field.
I see it this way, one day all the criminals who could have intentionally ended my life, will be held accountable. I may not be around to witness it or hear about it but in the end I believe that criminals pay for their evil practices.
I know this woman who's mother was an alcoholic and she turned out to be very successful inspite of her troubles growing up. However, success did not matter much because she was conditioned to mistreat other's. She's not a happy human being but it's deserving because you cannot be cruel to others and expect to be happy. Having given this example by no means indicates that I'm judging the mother because she had a disease and we all know or should know that the addiction field has not always been supporting to women's causes. Til this day there are more detoxification and treatment beds for men than women.
So, my point is that if we are not good human beings in time it catches up to you.
All, I can do, is continue being a strong advocate for those that I adore working with .. the clients and unfortunately myself!
Thanks
Roxie

Oh Roxie,
Why are there so many stories like this?? Mothers who are all messed up and raising kids who are also messed up. It's just so sad and tragic. I really believe there are just tons of people walking around all broken and messed up. I see it at all of my jobs...people who can't deal with others...even highly intelligent people with the emotional intelligence of a child. We then have to deal with the fallout. I think we need to rethink our educational system. We need to teach children how to be emotionally functional because it's obvious mothers are not teaching this.
Best, Maverick

Hi,
You're so right unfortunately. These are the people in charge of our healthcare system and it's so very sad. Some don't even have compassion for how much they hurt other's. My grammie and mom were wonderful and taught me about love and acceptance but this is not what everyone experienced and so others pay for their denial about needing help.
Those of us in treatment and are not ashamed of ourselves are targeted by such people. It's an unfortunate cycle of dysfunction and hurtful action's.
The evolution of mankind! It's a sad state that we live in and many of our young are lost without proper nurturing and guidance.
All we can do is pray that many of the broken systems are revamped sooner rather than later.
Take care my friend,
Rox
