Skin cancer: Is there a recommended cream to help reduce scarring?

Posted by Annie @mlenney167, May 28, 2022

Is there a recommended cream or gel that will help reduce scarring? Just had skin cancer removed from my face - want to minimize the potential damage. I’ve seen conflicting reviews on what’s best

I’d appreciate any input or shared experiences in dealing with this.

Hi Annie @mlenney167, Thanks for starting this discussion. I see that you have already connected with @barbjo in another discussion on the topic so hopefully other members will join this discussion and share their experience. I did find a couple of review sites that may be helpful.

Did you get any recommendations or suggestions from the doctor who removed the skin cancer?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I have an appointment with my surgeon in about three weeks. I’ll be sure to talk to her then. Hopefully my incision will be closed by then.

Thanks for your reply. The nurse suggested Scar Away gel but also saw another silicon gel - KeloCote that had good reviews online. But was hoping the Mayo Clinic experts had some suggestions to share as well. I’ll research the links you sent too.
