I had a melanoma recently removed from underneath my middle toe. The said it was in situ which I was told to be on the surface. Why would I get this in an area with little sun exposure? What should I watch for in the future? I have appointments with my dermatologist every 6 months.

I'm glad to read that you will be seeing your dermatologist every 6 months. I think it is important to ask what to watch for in the future. It does seem odd to get melanoma in an area that receives little sun exposure but unfortunately melanomas can occur anywhere on the body. Here is some information from Mayoclinic.org that might answer your questions. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/melanoma/symptoms-causes/syc-20374884
When is your next appointment?
