Looking for help

Posted by jodot @jodot, Jan 3, 2022

I have been struggling with my depression and trauma and it’s gotten significantly worse over the past couple months to the point where I’m searching for more intensive treatment than what I have now. Has anyone been to the mood disorder unit at Mayo? What makes it different from psychiatric units in other hospitals? Would you recommend?

@jodot Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, first off! Depression can certainly be a tough problem to work with, and I understand you want to see if there is something more out there for you. What type of treatment are you currently dealing with, that you feel may not be quite right? I am curious, as I also live with bouts of depression, and it seems to go in "peaks and valleys".

Here is a link to the mood disorder clinic at Mayo Clinic. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/mood-disorders/care-at-mayo-clinic/mac-20365060 Which campus [Arizona, Florida, or Minnesota] are you closest to?

Have you ever thought, or heard of, TMS? It definitely helped me.
