What helps the symptoms of Small Fiber Neuropathy?

Posted by margie1234 @margie1234, Dec 12, 2021

Good morning
I know most members here have more severe symtoms than I.
I woke up one morning in august with both feet tingling and with a sandy like feeling under my toes and bottom of both feet. I had no previous warning. My family doctor said that is strange maybe it will fo away on its own?? I had a short assessment with a poditrist which cost me $95 dollars and he said I had beginnings of small fiber neuraphy buy cushioned insoles and come back if it gets worse. To see a neurolagist here is 3 year wait and I have no coverage I am at my wits end on what to do for this. I thought only diabitics got this. My anxiety level is off the wall. I have researched on line and do stretches and walk. Any advice on what to do to possibly stop the tingling would be so much appreciated. Margie

@simina1234, Thanks so much for sharing this tip. That is one feature I like about Connect. I have tingling and pins and needles. How many times a day do you use the roll-on?

I use it twice a day - my tingling is worse at night ( so I apply the roll on just before going to sleep ) and in the morning too.

Thank you so much. I will let you know if I am successful or not. Currently, I have my feet immersed in MFR therapy at least twice a week so I can drive. Are you o.k. to drive now?

May you have happiness and the causes of happiness.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through, I do know and understand your pain. My only suggestion is to see a Muscular skeletal Neurologist and have a skin biopsy done to know for sure if you have small fiber neuropathy.

Make an appointment; then, do what you can to improve the time frame. If it turns out to be nothing, don't break the appointment until the time arrives. Then you can decide.

I massage my feet and it seems to help.

So I have small fiber neuropathy and saw a few neurologists. None could actually help me with a root cause and wanted to put me on medications that don’t fix anything but mask symptoms.

So currently I take no medications.

What has worked for me is watching what foods I eat and I don’t mean cut out just sugar. Im talking about look at ingredients on boxes, cans, drinks.

Cook all your foods, eat Whole Foods such as fruits, veggies, meats.

Supplements like vitamin D is great.

Don’t eat/drink anything that has high fructose corn syrup, natural flavors, BHT, soybean oil, artificial flavors, anything that has colors listed in it. All those things are not natural and are processed chemicals that you could potentially put into your body.

I have actively watched these things and my symptoms have improved greatly.

Also here’s a cheat sheet that I go by. All these things are harmful over time so cutting them out has helped me lessen/almost reverse symptoms.
