Metastatic Breast Cancer: depressed & looking for a new oncologist

Posted by mhsosa @mhsosa, Oct 6, 2021

I was diagnosed with MBC in September 2020. I am weak and depressed because it being level four diagnosis the oncologist is treating with verzenio twice a day and once a day with anastrozol. I cannot say I feel any better with these two medicines but only hope they are helping. Up to six weeks ago was also getting zomeda treatment every five weeks for 20 minutes to help my bones. This was discontinued when I mentioned pain in one of my teeth. I was sent to an oral surgeon who showed me what the zomeda was doing to my teeth. In the mean time the oncologist doctor has yet to put me on anything else. The oral surgeon said to ask oncologist what was next step. I go see oncologist in three weeks. I am stressed and just wish someone could recommend me an oncologist with a good reputation in Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Colorado, area. Any info will be immensely appreciated.

Is there a university hospital or a teaching hospital, or a cancer center in your area where you could get a 2nd opinion or maybe a coordinated treatment?

@mhsosa Sorry to hear of your situation. I have no Direct Recommendation, since I am in Minneapolis. However, a quick Google revealed a few ideas. Here is the link to a breast cancer care center near you showing three oncologists with strong reviews. May be worth pursuing:

Also, do your primary care physician or gynecologist have any doctor recommendations for you?

Sending you positive healing energy. xo.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm curious as to why you weren't given chemotherapy, or you may have. I really don't know what the procedure protocol is for stage 4, as I had stage 3 with only getting 2 chemotherapy treatments, because I couldn't handle anymore. I ended up getting c-diff after the first treatment and neuropathy after the second treatment. He decided to go ahead with the right breast mastectomy.

Yes, you should check into finding another oncologist, since it has already been a year since diagnosis. Prayers for you to get answers and cure.
