Proton Beam Short Course: How can I prepare?

I was diagnosed with rectal cancer Stage 2A, T3, N0, M0 on July 21, 2021. Mayo recommends one week short course radiation starting Sept. 27, followed by a proctosigmoidectomy with temporary ileostomy on October 4. What should I expect? Should I start to modify my diet now? Please send me any advice you have! Thank you.

I think @vernonkent might be able to share experiences about proton beam treatment for colorectal cancer. Although I'm not sure if it was a short-course.

@pjebp, has it been recommended to modify your diet? Staying active would be the tip I would offer.

For ant procedure, be as strong physically as you can and diet properly as often as you can.
