What is causing foul odor to emanate from sinuses?

Posted by itsocd @itsocd, Sep 3, 2021

Hi I've had this foul odor emanate from my sinuses for at least 15 years and am now 27. Compounding the misery is the fact that I've got OCD and the combination of the two is destroying me. Every Doctor I've frequented has always given me antibiotics for sinusitis -which I don't have- and always the antibiotic failed to resolve the issue. So I'm wondering is this more of a GI tract issue than anything and if so shouldn't the antibiotic have had a neutralizing effect on the bacteria that could be causing this? Or rather is this a bloodborne odor and there's nothing that can remedy it...Farewell

Hi @itsocd, here is an article that may offer you some questions to ask your doctor.
- Feces Odor on Breath: What It Means and What You Can Do https://www.healthline.com/health/breath-smells-like-poop

Sinus and respiratory infections can cause your breath to smell like feces. But there are other causes too. If the antibiotics didn't work, it sounds like more investigation is necessary. Have you considered seeking the opinion of a GI specialist?

Hi the input you've given is much appreciated and I'm trying to get insurance since I'm no longer covered through my parents insurance. Very tough situation, shouldn't have to be struggling like this but it's the cards I've been dealt.

I am no expert on sinuses but found a couple of articles that might help identify a cause that hasn't been explored yet. Good luck! I wish you the best.
