Bartholin cyst

Posted by leo01 @leo01, Aug 17, 2021

I have reason to believe I have an infected Bartholin cyst. I have had it since Saturday and I do not think that it has popped just yet because I still have a very itchy and burning sensation in my vagina. I have been doing sitz baths for the past 3 days and the darn think is still very persistent! I was wondering if anyone knows the timeline for this type of cyst to pop on its own when it is infected? I am weary about going to the doctor because they will probably recommend surgery and I am not for that right now! Please advise.

Hi @leo01 I’m just following up on our previous conventions about this from another post. I don’t see any older conversations about the Bartholin cyst. Hopefully someone will share their experience and to respond to you.

In the meantime, I really hope you’ll have this checked out by your doctor. Sounds so miserable to deal with and delaying treatment is putting off any relief!

Sharing your story might help someone else who could be going through the same situation. Will you let me know how this turns out for you?

Hi @loribmt, thank you for following up. Good news, the cyst popped this evening after my third sitz bath for the day! I cannot tell you how relieved I am!!! The pain was gone in an instant. However, I do not want this thing to EVER return so I am going to go to the doctor ASAP to make sure it is not infected and also get prescribed some antibiotics.

Wow!! That’s just theee best news! You must be over the moon with relief. I’m relieved right along with you as I could just imagine the stress and the pain that cyst was causing! Pfhew, huh? Now you can get some sleep tonight.

Thank you for letting me know! It will be interesting to hear what your doctor can tell you about the cyst and how the heck to keep anything like that from happening again!

You were so smart with researching the symptoms, sticking with the advice of the sitz baths and staying cool through the crisis!

Now, I’m like a mother hen so will you let me know about your dr visit…please? ☺️

Hi @leo01 Thought I’d drop in this morning to see how you’re doing. I hope by now that cyst is ancient history, never to repeat itself. What was the outcome of your doctor’s appointment?
