Anxious: Sorting out meds for pain and anxiety

Posted by girl4god @girl4god, Jul 17, 2021

Has anyone here suddenly been pulled off there opioid meds because they are also taking anxiety meds? Only Hemp CBD oil where I live. I think it’s helping my bone pain. This new doctor made me feel so bad about my anxiety meds that I’m trying to take less of it even though I get it from behavioral health provider. Pain doctor the other day said it sounds like I need my anxiety meds more than pain meds right now. Also if I fail my drug screen I’ll be breaking my pain contract…even though Hemp is legal now. This doctor said we’d taper slowly but does 10 mg decrease of Oxycodone a month seem slow when you’ve been on it for 8 years? I’ve always been a model patient and followed the rules til now. #I think my doctor is trying to kill me!Lol

P.S. Some physicians are simply do not prescribe and anxiety or pain meds. They seem to be on a campaign to eradicate substance abuse and assume that anyone taking them are either selling them or abusing the medications. Using these medications as prescribed are beneficial but over use will lead to abuse. It is a risk the individual must be aware of and monitor the use accordingly. Take the pain and anxiety med only when the symptoms occur. Do not take the meds to prevent the symptom from occurring. Taking these medications only when the symptoms begin minimizes the risk of addiction and abuse. If you doctor doesn’t agree with this approach it’s time to find a new doctor. There are no laws that prohibit prescribing both pain and anxiety medications for an individual. The symptoms dictating these prescriptions require different different medications for relief and no law would prevent them from being prescribed together. Your doctor is lying to you if stating otherwise. Good luck.

Most anxiety meds don't work that way."When" you are fortunate to have found one that works it has to be taken regularly and may take up to 6 weeks to take effect.

I take small dose of klonopin for anxiety as I was having rebound anxiety from Xanax later in day when it wore off. My concern is am also taking 3mg of Lunesta to sleep as well as 10 mg Lexapro and 400 mg Gabapentin. I feel that my mind is off (concerned about forgetfulness) perhaps due to all these drugs. May ask dr for brain scan and try to taper off some meds.

Antidepressants can take up to six weeks to work. Benzodiazepines work within 30 minutes or less. Antidepressants are really worthless for debilitating anxiety in my opinion.
