@nanmargaret I did go to the zoom and if I recall correctly, they asked if anyone who was able to get a third vaccine would get tested both before and after for their studies. That is correct, yes?
I'm wondering how I can do that without being deceitful! I really am not good at deceit but I would love to get a third shot. I would feel so much more protected than I am now.
Thanks.

3rd doses and not approved for distribution in the US.
There is currently consideration of a possible booster in the future.

My understanding is that there is not sufficient information about how or whether a 3rd dose is going to be needed.

The JH webinar did not intend to infer that anyone should seek out a 3rd dose.

@rosemarya I thought they said if anyone was able to obtain a third dose that they should let them know so a blood test could be done before and after.

Yes, I listened again to Dorry Segev's response to 3rd dose question at approx. 33:00-39 mins.
- 3rd doses for tx patients have been approved in France
- 3rd doses NOT approved here, but some people are receiving them, he doesn't know how
- IF you have or plan to get a 3rd and are in the study, a "real world observational study", they want to follow whatever is happening with study participants so please let them know date and they would like to test you before and after
- ALWAYS GET APPROVAL for additional vaccine doses or changes to dosing of immunosuppressants with your transplant doctors.

@estrada53 I thought the conference was excellent despite them acknowledging that it was not great news so far.

I too am on sirolimus and prednisone.

I requested the antibody tests used by Johns Hopkins from Mass General but for some reason, the person who fields all of the portal messages said they were not doing that. I thought if they requested that maybe my insurance would pay for it whereas if I self-referred it would not so I went to get the test anyway. It turned out that they can only do those tests with a doctor's lab request. Since I had already paid a fee I went ahead and got the regular antibody test and I did test positive for antibodies. That test does not tell you just how much immunity you do have though. I asked my PCP for a lab request and she called today and has faxed one to the lab so I will go for that tomorrow. I will be very interested in seeing what my immunity will be. I am sure I will have the results next week. When I do I will let everybody know how I fared.

@livertex I suspect you had the same test I had. It just shows positive and negative, not how many antibodies you have.

I got an invite for a clinical trial study of vaccine recipients. They sent me a script about 3 mo after my last vaccine for bloodwork at my lab. Then, they sent a letter showing I had positive antibodies. They will continue to test for 1 year..
No charge.
