At Home Food Sensitivity Test ?

Posted by Laurie, Volunteer Mentor @roch, May 3, 2021

Has anyone tried the Food Sensitivity Test (like Everlywell) ?
What brand did you use?
Just wondering if they were accurate and helpful?

Hi Laurie @roch - Thank you for starting this discussion. I'm sure it's a question a lot of folks have thought about and asked themselves. I'm a born skeptic, mainly because I've wasted a lot of money on things that I thought would really help me only to find out it didn't pan out like it was advertised. I try to do some research and like you try to find a personal connection from someone who has used the product and not one that is part of the advertising information. Here's some information that I found on the topic that you may have already seen.

Oh, dear. I wish you had presented this wonderful information a few weeks ago. I may not have ordered the food panel test as one of three tests I had done from a lab in Arizona. I guess I'll ask my doctor to prescribe tests to confirm their findings...particularly their finding I'm allergic to eggs and not bothered by dairy. In the meantime, I'll try an elimination test -- one at a time -- to see if I can notice any problems from eliminating and then adding them back to my diet. Thanks for posting this and letting others know to beware!

I tried a certain Food Sensitivity brand in 2021. The commercials convinced me. I was having issues with my stomach and my local MD’s wanted me to take drugs, but I wanted to know what was causing the issues. The results basically showed me what I had eaten in the past month with a disclaimer that these foods could be sensitive to my health.

I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease 20 years earlier and the test results from this company didn’t include Gluten foods.

Since then I’ve been skeptical of food sensitivity tests. My Dad use to say “you get what you pay for”. At this time I need to now understand the methodology of future tests.

I did a home test (York) with the intention of getting a more definitive test on whatever potential allergies it showed. A sesame seed reaction was the only food out of a half dozen reaction results that I had actually been eating. I read this was a common allergy so I just dropped eating sesame rather than test any further. This company recommends re-testing because they say reactions can change over time. I recently purchased a book to read on allergies instead. I was disappointed this company did not test bananas, because they say you can be sensitive to them if latex bothers you. This home test for the most part validated why I had learned to avoid certain foods like coffee over the years.
