Primatene Mist Huge Help with Breathing Issue

Posted by thomason @thomason, Apr 3, 2021

The last few day I developed my usual difficulty breathing. So, I am in Statcare, and the NP that has dealt with me before says I sound really bad this time. She said I sounded like a baby with CROUP. She wanted to try something. Well, let me back up. I told her that I did not understand why the Pulmonologist released me from e hospital without checking to see if my sputum still had E-coli. She said she wanted to know and ordered a sputum sample (which they usually don't do such things in Statcare). So she had a nebulizer with Saline brought in to get a good sample, but she mixed the saline with Epinephrine. When it was over, I could breathe almost 100% normally! When she said it was a substance she could not prescribe, I felt totally let down and thought that I was right back where I started from. She gave me a prescription for yet another antibiotic and a prednisone shot. I went to Kroger to fill the prescription and explained to the pharmacist about the experience with the Epinephrine. She comes out of her room holding a box of Primatene Mist for $30.00. It also contains Epinephrine. I come home and try it and voila'! This stuff is amazing as I can breathe again. Just wanted to let others know about this amazing product! This works so much better than ANY of the inhalers I have ever tried. Thanks for listening.

@thomason, I appreciate your sharing this experience with epinephrine. I wasn't familiar with Primatene Mist and did a quick Google search. This article from Web MD was at the top of the search results.

I hope you will read the article as it offers some cautions that you should be aware of. Please let your doctor know that you are taking Primatene Mist and how it has helped you. From what I can gather (I'm not a doctor), the epinephrine may offer some rescue relief, but your prescriptions - the antibiotic and prednisone - will get to the root of the issue and clear the infection.

Dear Colleen,
Thank-you, for caring! It does come with precautions. Thank God that IU moved my appt. to Monday, because this breathing problem is worse now. You are right about the antibiotics and Prednisone. One thing is sure, I would be in dire straits had I not found this Primatene Mist for temporary help! Thank-you, again.
