Hemicranial continua

Posted by midgette @midgette, Nov 10, 2011

Hello.....I am new here. I was diagnosed last week with Hemicranial continua and put on Indocin which is suppose to be the medicine to take care of the problem. I have seen no relief. The pain is just as bad as before. I have a long history of headaches.I have learned to live with the pain because I have a high pain tolerance but this is different from my usual headaches and is really more than I can bear. This pain started a few months ago in my right eye....at first my MD thought it was Trigeminal Neurosa but after going to a neurologist, she said it was Hemicranial continua. I had an MRI which was ok.....only showed two ubo's but everything was normal. I have asked my doctor about a MRA but she didnt want to do one then. I am about at my wits end...where do I go from here? I had a heart attack a year ago and take weekly IV iron treatments for anemia. I am 64 years old, active but having a hard time living with these headaches. Does anyone else out there have the same or similar problems? I would appreciate replies from anyone. Thank you/

dear midgett, i'm so sorry that you are in such pain and the drug indocin isn't helping. im sorry to say i know nothing about your disease but perhaps getting checked at an opthalmologist's office wouldn't hurt. or have you already done that?

boy, that was quick. i'm glad it was negative. so perhaps it is more to do with altering your breathing. when stressed, breathing in deeply and letting your breath out slowly can really help you to relax. tension can tighten everything up and perhaps bring on a headache. i'm no doctor but you have certainly eliminated a few avenues of possibilities. if you have difficulty with this perhaps a counselor or psychologist.
