Women's sexual health

Posted by af11133 @af11133, Oct 15, 2011

My wife has been complaining almost daily of physical ailments. Something always hurts her. It is either her head, arm, leg, bones, ear, eyes, fingers, stomach, etc. She has had medical exams and scans done on her head and stomach. The results are always negative. Doctors never ask about her sexual health. My wife and I have been married 12 years. Our sex life died about two years into our marriage and I later just closed off emotionally to her. We enjoy each others company now but no sexs in involved. Friends tell me my wife and I live like two friends instead of a married union. Could this be the reason she always complaints about her physical hurts? Can any one recommend some books or websites to learn more about this?

Why don't you ask your wife if there is anything you can do to ease her pain. If she knows how you feel maybe she will get help. I doubt she is complaining for reasons other than she is having physical ailments. I like this Mayo Clinic website for evaluating different ailments and researching treatments.

I'm reading this book, Why Marriages Succeed or Fail by John Gottman, PhD. Communication appears to be the biggest problem all married people have in common!

Does your wife not mind that you have shut down emotionally? Supposedly there are 5 love languages. Do you know which ones hers are? I think they are quality time, gifts, acts of service, touch and I forgot the 5th one.

Sounds to me like she has fibromyalgia. Sex is one thing that goes into the wind, mainly because of dry tissues, so intercourse is extremly painful. The fact that you shut down on her when she may have health problems is sad. Im glad you get along in general. There are other ways to please each other. Why not have a heart to heart and try not to be judgemental and decide if you can help each other.

Could be a variety of things.
Stress, fibro, CFS, ect.

As for marriage, you as her husband needs to romance her, love her, support her, make her feel loved, wanted, make her feel like she is beautiful and sexy...... Bring back that spark by making her feel like she is a goddess....
She will feel wanted, and feel attractive. In turn, feeling like a sexual woman again.

May take time, but I'm sure this will help.

Women's sexual health can certainly be affected by cancer treatment. Here is a podcast produced by Mayo Clinic titled, Sexual health after cancer treatment. For those of you who may have sexual problems after cancer treatment, I encourage you to view the podcast.
