We really need a better way to diagnose brain aneurysms. I suffered for 6 weeks with a slow bleed, 4 trips to the ER and nobody could diagnose me. I also had all the signs for a stroke but nobody could help me until I passed out in the ER and had seizures in front of them.

Thank you Kari, I guess I have so many questions that are not answered it gets very frustrating. Thankful to be alive but it's the not knowing part that drives me crazy, Dr.s can't even give me answers or outcomes.

Yes, I totally understand. I have small aneurysms that are being monitored. I can deal with that- but I have so many questions about genetics, how my children are going to be affected. More research is needed. Are you on Twitter at all? If you are interested we are doing a brain aneurysm twitter chat Sunday, November 6th from 7pm-8pm CST http://tweetchat.com/room/Niekro

My sister had an aneurysm rupture in her brain. She survived the surgery - thanks to the doctors and the good Lord - with no known complications. Now we are starting to notice changes in her behavior, strong use of alcohol, and saying things sometimes that just don't make any sense. I'm not very sympathetic or understanding with this, but then I wonder if there could be some type of problem going on within her brain that we are not aware of? Could an aneurysm disrupt her normal way of thinking? I am so angry with her and I just don't want to be angry if she really can't help it. Any advice? Thanks!

My mother has been diagnosed with a small aneurysm. I was hoping to hear personal experiences after the surgery. Recovery time? Additional developments? Reaccurances? Normal lifestyle?

my mother is 62 and was not sure if we would need a physical therapist for walking, talking, etc...

I look forward to any advice you are willing to share.

Hi Prissygarz,
I do not have a personal experience for you however Mayo Clinic does have some information available online.
Please go to:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/brain-aneurysm/DS00582/DSECTION=lifestyle-and-home-remedies.
You will find some Lifestyle and home remedies.
Also on the left hand side of that webpage you will see additional information on tests and diagnosis, available treatments etc.
There is also some information relevant for your interest on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guHK0G6yK4c.

Be well, Soledad

I was in an accident a few months ago and struck my head on the concrete left a couple of large welts to my forehead and left-side. During my three day hospital stay, an aneurysm was detected. Since this time; I have dizzy spells, vomiting, disorientation, vertigo and headaches. Is an aneurysm, which is caused from the blow to the head, more or less dangerous than other brain aneurysms. Quality of life has not been the same as before the accident? I am very concerned in regards to the future and frantically searching for answers.
