Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD)?
Hi,
Is anyone else here a SCAD (spontaneous coronary artery dissection) survivor? I had mine, and the heart attack it caused, in March of '09, when I was 40 years old. Always happy to talk with other people who've had them.

Hi Laura!
My SCAD was of the LAD, a postpartum one after the birth of my second child in 2003. I was 38, in great health with no risk factors for HD. I had emergency double bypass. I believe there is a hormonal link, as that's when I'm regularly bothered by cardio symptoms.
Mayo Clinic has gotten approval for a couple of new studies related to SCAD. This post give some information on them. http://mayocl.in/SCADstudy
Sending a HUGE thank you to Dr. Hayes and the Mayo team for believing that SCAD did have research potential. As a pilot study participant, I will be forever grateful.
I second this! Thank you to Dr. Hayes and Mayo for taking us on and searching to learn more about SCAD!
