Time for by CT Scan for Adenocarcinoma of the Lung

Posted by sakota9 (Joan) @sakota, May 27, 2019

Friday time to go over to mayo for my ct scan for adenocarcinoma of the lung. And always time to worry about the outcome. Am having a mri of the brain this time too so lots to think about. Also just got over a bout of pneumonia. Did a lot of coughing and loss of sleep. Been stable with my lungs lately but always wonder when it’s going to end. Blessings and prayers to each of you.

Hi Joan, I second @alamogal635's sentiment. It is really good to hear from you. I can't imagine having pneumonia on top of everything else. I'm glad that you're well enough now to get to the appointment for the MRI. Those tests also come with a strong dose of anxiety and with the added brain MRI the addition of the unknown. Perhaps @shaila1902 and @lady1lake can share a bit about what to expect with a brain MRI.

@sakota, how is your energy these days?

Hello @sakota
I have had several brain MRIs in the past 2 years since the mets were discovered in April 2017-do it every 3 months. Its very simple and not at all bothersome. In fact if small tumours show up they are easily controlled with the cyber knife treatment which is completely painless (I have done it twice). No side effects and feeling good.
I feel its better to know while the tumours are small as there are so many treatment options now.
Wish you all the best for your tests

Hey Joan- Good morning. I hope that you are well away from pneumonia by now! Are you feeling better? What a tough time you must have had. Did you need oxygen at all? I've had a brain MRI- I was terribly anxious but had the techs cover my head with a light scarf and it made all the difference in the world for me. How did you do?

(nancy / shortshot) Good Saturday June 15 Morning. I finally found my way back here, Thank you Colleen! Have been having a bunch of urine infections for the past four or so months along with every thing else. Had to go to emergency Wednesday with horrible belly/bladder pain. Had been on medicine for the past seven days and found out the bug I had was a drug resistant bug. The doc changed the medicine and also gave me a drug to numb my bladder. Primary doc is sending me to a urologist to see what if whatever is causing all this. I'm tired of all of it. Also am going to physical therapy, to help me get back to walking. Didn't have only two weeks of PT after breaking my left hip. So that's what has been going on for me... Such fun! Everyone have a great day... Nancy

@shortshot80 It is always good to hear from you, Nancy, but I'm so sorry to hear that you have been ill. Bladder infections are just the worst! I hope the new medicine will work well for you and you can get some relief. I'm sure physical therapy will help you with your walking. Will you be starting PT soon?

Any more progress on your book? How is the weather in your part of the country?

Good morning @shortshot80. This past year I contracted a very bad bladder infection rebounded from an antibiotic that obviously didn't work. I wound up in the ER with a 105 fever. Thankfully the ER dr. was good and started me on liquids and an antibiotic IV to get the infection under control They are extremely painful and can lead to kidney infections.
Mayo has a great site for this, https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/urinary-tract-infection/symptoms-causes/syc-20353447
Did you know that for women that e-coli is the main cause for women who get bladder infections? Somehow evolution gave us a very vulnerable spot for you know what.
Are you in a lot of pain? Do you have an appointment yet with a urologist?

Good morning to everyone. I don't mind the mri's I think I even fell asleep during this one, if you can believe that. Anyway that came out all fine, my brain was empty so no problems!!!! As for the ct scan of my lungs..... well something in my lower left lung is changing so its time for them to start watching that more closely. I have to go back again to mayo for an eeg but I really don't think that's going to show anything. I think I am becoming my own dr as now I am looking up info on thyroids to see if that might be causing my shakes. Will ask the neurologist next week when I am there. Hope everyone is keeping their spirits up, with the help of prayers, family and friends. We all need those in this time of our lives. Hugs to you all. Joan
