Problems Getting Back To Sleep After 3 Hrs. of Sleep

Hi Everyone!

After my Dad passed away 9 years ago I started having problems not being able to sleep past 4 a.m. I was told that it would pass after I had a chance to grieve. It has progressively gotten worse. Last year I would wake up around 1:30 a.m. but I could usually get back to sleep when I went to the couch. As I write this I went to bed last night at 9 p.m. and woke up at 11 p.m. and haven't been able to get back to sleep. It is now 7 a.m. I have tried things like Tylenol p.m., and Melanin and eating dairy products but nothing seems to work. I am 47 years old and I also have hormonal migraine headaches which I can control with Frova. I have very limited insurance since I have been unemployed for the last 3 years due to lay offs in the oil field (I used to be a dump truck driver working 14 hour days). Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

I have difficulty with waking after four hours of sleep. I talked with my doctor and we decided that I have Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). I have started taking medication for RLS My doctor also encouraged an exercise program. Fortunately for me I have access of a pool and I love to swim.

When I have trouble going back to sleep, I listen to music on my dvd player. Lately, I've been taking Benadryl for my itchy skin and found that it makes me sleepy. Don't dare take it during the day!
