Considering another Transplant

Posted by tmnoldan @tmnoldan, Feb 1, 2021

Hello, I am three years post Liver transplant (liver doing great). I am considering whether to proceed with going thru another transplant for lungs that have been getting progressively worse especially the last year or so. Have been on oxygen since prior to liver transplant. Anyone have thoughts or experience with going through the whole process again and whether the good outweighs the bad.

Thanks Ginger for your opinion,
As of now I have to wear a girdle like band around my tummy, don't
Lift anything over 2lbs,massage the area, that's about it,they will address the medications closer to
Surgery..... that's all folks...have a good day

@jackie421blfdgurl, How is it going for you? Does the tummy band help you feel any better?
I remember once when I returned to my transplant center for an annual visit, that some of the patients were talking about wearing spandex body shapers to support their abdomens after transplant. I tried one, just because I liked the idea of extra support, but I found it too restricting and uncomfortable for me. I suppose that doing it for vanity is not the same as for a medical support.

What are you able to do with just a 2 lb weight lift limit? Do you have someone to help you to perform the heavier lifting duties?

Good morning to all and Rosemary. Wearing the band has been much better than
Without, glad the doctor told me. Well I don’t vacuum! Yes I do have help if I need to
Lift something more than I am allowed. I will meet with the surgeon and the plastic surgeon sometime in April, and go from there. I wish on one hand it was a lot sooner
To wait is torture...but I am still very nervous, no matter what the doctors reassure
Me, from the transplant I was told I would be inthe hospital 8 days, not 2 months!
Dr. Said it would b 7 days I said no more than 5.....thank you so much for your
imput and keeping me in the loop.....have a great day.....
