November 2-1/2 weeks prescribed Steroid cream for Grovers, Later went for followup. Three complaints (red hands, itchy hands, mild pins and needles. He said I had neuropathy. I asked coincidental after Steroid on skin.
He said age (I am 78..But Ride bike, rolleblade, water ski, work on antique cars ,A1C=5.6, Quite healthy),
till I wore a new dark green Tee Shirt to bed before washing it. In 2 weeks chest broke out in blisters. That is how the story started.
My neuropathy is mild. Like flys stopping here and there on my body. I scratch once or twice and gone. However the land some other place.

Thx Jake. My nutritionist said the vit D needs some fat to help it help us with calcium absorption. A quarter of an avacado is a good fat to do that. Warmest wishes for everyone, Sunnyflower @artist01, @helennicola

Good idea, sunnyflower. Question: how do you keep the leftover part of the avocado from turning brown? Or can you? I've never been successful at that but would love to buy them if I could choose to eat less than the whole thing at one sitting.

artist01, I am certainly no expert when it comes to food, but I have heard you can sprinkle lemon on the leftover avocado. Also, I read somewhere that you can save the pit and put the avocado around the pit. I guess that would work if you can mash the avocado and put the pit in the middle. It all sounds fairly silly, doesn't it? I have no idea if any of this works. Good luck! @joybringer1

@joybringer1, thankyou! I'm smiling at your second tip, but who knows? It might just work! I'll try both, and hope one or the other might work. Avocados are delicious, and way too expensive to waste by turning all brown! lol

Hello. Well, they say to squeeze lemon juice on it but I have found that doesn't work for me. I wrap it with Sarah wrap, trying to make sure it is touching the flesh everywhere w/ as little air to get to it as possible and then just skim off the dark parts if they are enough to bother me. If not I leave them be and eat it that way. I did my little pieces in a tiny bit of Catalina dressings. Or just use a little salt. I only cut and remove 1/4 of it at a time and leave the pit in until the last day when there is only one, 1/4 slice left. Here is a great site that tells how to store a cut avocado: https://www.bulletproof.com/diet/healthy-eating/how-to-store-avocados/ Warmest wishes, Sunnyflower

All medications and many vitamins & minerals etc do indeed have potential side effects. Look at the information pamphlet you get with you prescription medications. How many of those side effects do you have. I took 18 prescriptions at one time. Imagine how many possible side effects there may have been. My Mom never had any problems with Turmeric but that’s not to say someone else might but if it were me I would ask the doctor the probability of those side effects. Does the risk outweigh the benefit? She and I have not taken anything prescription or over the counter that wasn’t authorized by a physician.
My seizure medications and other medications can play havoc on various nutrients and one is often dependent on another. Vitamin D for example. Calcium is dependent on vitamin D and also on vitamin K. Vitamins and minerals are far to complicated for me. But I don’t believe a doctor would recommend them if he felt they were unsafe.
Always talk to your doctor and pharmacist.
Take care and good health,
Jake

Hi @jakedduck1 I agree we have to be careful with medications and supplements and their potential side effects. Our healthy existence is related to maintaining equilibrium within our bodies. Too much or too little of a substance can cause an undesirable chain of events. Sorry to hear you have struggled with seizures for so many years. Has the medications helped? The side effects must be awful. While in the ICU for my AVM, the physicians gave me Keppra. I had to continue taking it at home. I had felt all the side effects it was capable of. I hated taking it. I didn’t know how much of what I was feeling was due to the Keppra or due to me in order to help myself. After talking to my physician I was eventually weaned off the medication two months later. Luckily, I never had a seizure. Do you have dizziness, balance issues, or headaches? I believe drowsiness was one concern and warned no driving. How do you handle the side effects? Are you aware of the Keto diet? I know it is not an easy diet to follow to consume low carbs. I tried it for 6 months for weight loss with my husband. It was originally used to control seizures before medications were discovered. I believe low carbs help our nerves function better. One of our friends was also on the diet for weight loss. While on the diet his hand tremors went away. As soon as he got off the diet his tremors came back. I hadn’t realized I was helping myself then. At that time I didn’t pay much attention to the details of my symptoms with lifestyle changes. Best wishes. Toni

Medication side effects rarely affect me. The main problem I have is my balance. I never completely recovered my balance after my first coma. Tiredness, which has improved 90% except with dosage increases which is only temporary.
I never tried the Ketogenic diet. Getting cereal in the morning is a major accompaniment. I could never do the Keto diet. But I have significantly improved my diet.
None of the medications I took for 44 years seemed to helped my seizures, although the doctors felt it helped decrease my Status Epilepticus episodes, who knows what it would’ve been like had I never taken the meds. I didn’t believe they helped the Status then and I don’t really believe it now but who knows.
Take care,
Jake

Jake, I also came out of a coma. I believe the brain continues to learn. At first I was in a wheel chair. Walking was impossible with my imbalance. I kept doing exercises and slowly progressed to where now I can walk on even surfaces without any device. For the grass and gravel outdoors I use a quad cane. Have you used physical therapy? It was a great help to me. I tried both home health for physical therapy only and then out patient services. The latter provided more exercises with the equipment available. At each session I began with their stationary bicycle for 10 minutes. I did a weekly session through PT outpatient to continue what I learned at home(otherwise PT was too expensive under Medicare- 80% coverage). At home I use a mini cycle machine everyday. I provide my own chair to cycle with the machine. I believe it is important to strengthen the core and limb muscles to prevent any falls. In the last few weeks diet and routine exercises have made a significant improvement for me. I will continue to increase my exercise duration. The brain can’t learn if it is not challenged. It is never too late. Toni

Hi @jakedduck1 I forget to mention today more food items are available at stores that are Keto diet approved. Not much cooking is required. The diet was difficult for me because I do not like fatty foods. I was still able to maintain a diet low in carbs once I got off the Keto diet. I keep my fat and carb intake low(the daily exercises help to burn the carbs). I have discovered a diet high in carbs can injure or damage nerves. I guess that is how the Keto diet helps with neurological disorders. Look at diabetic neuropathy caused by too much blood glucose. The body converts carbohydrates into glucose. Take care of yourself. Please just Google Topical Steroid Withdrawal if your symptoms get worse.

Hi, I am wondering how your daughter Sasha is doing. Has she tried the beta alanine which someone suggested for her itching? Best, Hank
