Newest Comments about my DRG stimulator, implanted 5 months ago

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Dec 5, 2020

Hi, it's LoriRenee1. I thought I would do a final post about my DRG implant, in hopes of helping someone decide if they want a stimulator. It's been five months since my implant, and all in all, it barely helps my feet. I have both high and moderate amounts of pain still. I would say more moderate since the DRG, for the most part. This past month there has been an addition of electric type pain. I get a buzzing, zapping, tingling, sensation from anywhere waist down, but particularly in my glutes and shins. It is beyond annoying. It is painful and alien feeling. During the last month or so, I can't sit down easily, as my butt has electrical sensations that hurt. Today, I finally turned off the machine, and I will see how my feet feel without it. I could not bare it any more. So wish me luck folks. I hope my foot pain does not get more severe without it. If you have any questions, please ask. I will help you as much as I can. LoriRenee1

While your post is a major disappointment for you @lorirenee, I know you gave it every chance and are even scheduling one more test for your feet. First and foremost I am vociferously bummed about the outcome to date because I so wanted you to have found a way to leave the pain behind. Secondly, I am grateful that you have kept us in the loop as this journey progressed. And because of your kind of informative caring, many get to benefit from your experience. Thank you.

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.

@artscaping Thanks for your kind words, Chris. You have been a great support and encouragement to me, and for that, I am so thankful. I know how much you suffer as well, and yet, you always stop to care for others. I think we really are sensational folks here. I really do. Lori

Hi @lorirenee1 I am so sorry to hear of your unfortunate experience. It almost sounds like getting an electric shock. I do not plan to have a stimulator implanted but this information will be helpful to those considering one. Good to know. I don’t think any success in relieving pain will be long lasting with a stimulator. At least I haven’t heard of a successful story. For you the device brought on the pain. I think stopping it will alleviate the additional pain. You were able to hang in there for 5 months. You gave it a chance. Best wishes to you. Toni

@avmcbellar Hi Toni, Thanks so much for your well wishes! I agree, that at best, most of these stimulators give little, or short term relief. And yes, I do feel mini shocks. What needs that, on top of the neuropathy? I just hope I help someone with the information I gave. The best thing ever, is the help we give!!! Best to you as well, Lori

Hi Lori Renee, I will be upholding you in prayer these coming days/weeks when you will learn whether or not you are doing better without the DRG. Here's hoping, Sunnyflower. 🤞🙏❤️

Lori, at this point, having followed your journey all the way through, about all I can say is Ugh! No one I have heard about had higher hopes for one of these things to work, put in more effort to finally get the darn thing installed (while working around all the covid obstacles), and struggled more than you with the doctors and the reps to try to successfully get it to reduce your pain. You are a testament to what it means to strive for something. I have been inspired by your commitment and dedication to having this done so it can help you to have a better life. Some of us humans, ones like you anyway, will go to amazing lengths to try to get out from under, and move beyond, challenges and difficulties you are faced with. I know you are beyond discouraged, as am I for you, but, as a person of Faith as I know you are, I hope you know that whatever struggles we have in life are never a waste. God sees your efforts and struggles. He will not forget them.

You ARE an inspiration! I know that in itself does nothing for your suffering, but your service to others through giving out this info and allowing others to follow your journey, is a very good thing that you do. I appreciate you. Hank

@jesfactsmon Hi Hank, I know for sure, that the very best part of my journey, has been meeting YOU!!!! Through everything I have endured, you have been there for me! Believe me, Hank, you too are inspirational as you fight for your wife and everyone on here! You manage to help everyone! You are such a listener and a keeper of each of our journeys! So yes, the DRG is officially off for awhile. Perhaps it will go back on, but I could no longer even sit down with comfort. God willing, whatever was going on, will settle down now. Please do a prayer, as it ain't over, till I can sit down comfortably! Thanks for everything, Hank. Love, Lori
