possible focal/partial or non-convulsive status epilepticus

Posted by Leonard @jakedduck1, Oct 14, 2020

I have been having lightheadedness now for 2 1/2 hours. I’m wondering if I may be having a Focal Aware seizure. Previously known as a simple partial.
This type of seizure usually only last a couple minutes. If it is in fact a seizure I’m wondering if it’s nonconvulsive status epilepticus.
Has anybody ever had a Focal/partial or any other type of nonconvulsive status epilepticus? Any and all information appreciated.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Thank you for your help,
Jake

My blood pressure and heart rate have been up for quite a while which could indicate seizure activity but so could many other things. I guess I need to wise up and stop trying to diagnose myself.

@jakedduck1 I'm happy to hear that you had a friend monitor you.

I see that your blood pressure is up.

What are you next steps?

I hope you got some sleep. It's a new day 😊. Please go see what the doc. has to say??? I know sometimes those visits are a waist of time & money. But....you really don't know what is going on & that is a scary position to be in & it does not seem like it is going away??? Mom 😉😉😉

My night was uneventful other than some nausea and increased heart rate and blood pressure and this morning the light headedness seems to be better but can't walk without a walker and even then I occasionally take a tumble.
Now I am wondering if it may be an Ataxia of some sort. If so it's different from the Ataxia I was hospitalized for some years ago.

Oh good grief Mom. Ok I'll call her. It will probably be a waste of time though. She probably won’t know much more about it than I do, well she might know a little more, maybe.
Take care,

Feeling better so going to donate platelets. Probably not the wisest thing I’ve ever done.

Well mom, I hope your happy.
Now I have to go through a barrage of tests and what are they going to prove? Well, I’ll tell you exactly what they’re going to prove, “NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING .”
I just hope they don’t put in my chart that I’m a Hypochondriac or a Munchhausen syndrome patient.
I have to get the levels of my seizure meds checked. Im ok with that.
Go for some other blood tests too
Have to go for two MRI scans
A Carotid Artery Unltrasound
Have to see my Ophthalmologist
Go for a cardiac eval
Wear a holter monitor
Jeez talk about overkill!
After all that I better be told I’m dying!!!!!
I should’ve done it my way and kept my big mouth shut.
Oh well, at least you’ll have peace of mind.
I need some candy!
Come to think about it I think I forgot to take my most viral medication that day, my usual dose of candy. That’s probably all that was wrong with me, I was in sugar shock.
I’m off to medicate now,
Take care,
Jake

Hello All:

I subscribe to MedPage Today and they had an interesting article about undiagnosed subtle seizures (not yet diagnosed) that can result in auto accidents. The title of the article is, "Car Accidents Common With Undetected Epilepsy." It made me wonder if any of you have had this experience. I've copied the first paragraph of this article. Here is the link to the entire article, https://www.medpagetoday.com/neurology/seizures/89205?xid=nl_covidupdate_2020-10-20&eun=g1577843d0r&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DailyUpdate_102020&utm_term=NL_Gen_Int_Daily_News_Update

"Focal epilepsy patients with hard-to-detect, subtle seizures experienced long delays to diagnoses and treatment, and those delays were tied to a high occurrence of motor vehicle accidents, a cross-sectional study showed."

If you did experience an auto accident prior to a seizure diagnosis, I'm wondering how long it was before you were finally diagnosed?

Thank you for that information.
I haven’t ever had a traffic accident that weren’t extremely minor. I’m looking forward to reading about it, thanks again!!!
