Contraceptive pills to regulate period and conceive ?

Posted by akcmohan8 @akcmohan8, Sep 2, 2020

Dear all,
I have been married for 5 years and have PCOS and irregular periods. Miscarried two years back. My gynecologist is suggesting to use contraceptive pills for 3 months to regulate the period and then try naturally. Is it safe to use them or they have long term side effects on the body. Kindly advise.

Thanks,
Chan

Hi @akcmohan8, Thank you for joining the conversation and welcome! Mayo Clinic Connect is a patient-to-patient community – the most important ingredient of Connect is its members, like you. It is not designed to be a community for medical experts to give advice, but is a place to learn from all your shared experiences, insights, suggestions, and tips. With that being said, your question is very intriguing and I would like to invite @daphnev, @paddingtonk, @klindsay, @loren12, @minnesotamrsa and @phoenixzip to the conversation to share what they have been through.

@akcmohan8, how long have you had fertility issues and trying to conceive?
